Dr. Margaret Cotter – Principal doctor

MBBS DAME Adv Cert Aesthetic Medicine ABAM

Dr Margaret Cotter opened her first private practice in Nundah in 1995 at the current site of the Nundah Woolworths. In 2004, as her practice grew, she re-located further down Sandgate Road. In 2017 Dr Cotter decided that her and her medical colleagues practice had again out grown their location. In response to feedback about difficulties with parking and access, Dr Cotter established a new state of the art family medical practice on Bilsen Road at Wavell Heights.

Dr Cotter designed her new practice with her patients in mind, balancing the need for the provision of medical expertise and new technology along with a welcoming and comfortable environment with easy access and parking.

Dr Cotter is the eldest daughter of Dr Timothy John Cotter MBE. Dr Tim Cotter is remembered in the history of medicine in Australia as having solved the mystery of ‘Cane cutters fever’ which caused deaths and serious illness throughout North Queensland in the 1930’s. He identified the illness as leptospirosis. Dr Cotter’s research, which was published in 1934, led to the burning of the sugar cane and saved countless lives and the burgeoning sugar industry in Queensland. For this work and his years as a medical practitioner and surgeon in Innisfail, he was awarded an MBE by the Queen in 1962.

Dr Margaret Cotter was inspired by her father and consults from his desk watched over by his photo, with her medical degree alongside his. Dr Cotter, like her father believes in the importance of a general practitioner working within and being part of their community.

Dr. Praveen Jayaram – General Practitioner

MBBS FRACGP

Dr Praveen Jayaram (MBBS, FRACGP) is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and a College examiner.
Dr Praveen enjoys all aspects of family medicine and will happily treat the whole family from babies to grandparents.
Having worked in central Queensland for 14 years he is experienced at doing skin excisions, skin cancer checks, minor surgical procedures like sebaceous cyst excisions, wedge resection of toe nails and implanon insertion and removal.
His clinical interests include Men’s, Women’s and Children’s Health with a focus on lifestyle, disease prevention and health promotion to optimise health outcomes.

Dr Praveen also has an interest in chronic conditions and a structured approach to management: genetics, hypertension, osteoporosis, lung/respiratory, cardiac, arthritis and chronic pain are among the most common conditions he sees and can be supported with the help of a chronic disease management plan.

Dr Praveen Jayaram is also fluent in Malayalam and Kannada languages and is able to converse in Hindi and Tamil. He has recently relocated with his family from Mackay where he will be missed by his patients for his caring and professional manner.

Dr. Jessica Campbell – General Practitioner

BSc(Biomed) MBBS (Hon) FRACGP DAME

Dr. Jessica Campbell is a University of Queensland medical graduate with specialist qualifications in General Practice. She is a qualified Designated Aviation Medical Examiner (DAME) and also has a special interest in women’s health, family planning and sexual health. Dr. Campbell enjoys all elements of General Practice and is experienced in performing minor surgical procedures including skin biopsies and excisions, implant insertion and removals, and mirena removals. She has had 10 years experience as a Medical Officer in the Army but now enjoys family life at home with her husband and two teenage children.

Dr RENU RAYANI – GENERAL PRACTITIONER

MBBS, FRACGP, DRCOG

Dr Renu Rayani is a general practitioner with over 20 years’ experience in General Practice. Dr Rayani has special expertise in women’s health, gynaecology, pregnancy care and paediatrics. She is also interested in chronic health conditions such as diabetes and mental health. Dr Rayani is multilingual in Hindi, Gujarati and Punjabi.

Dr Mehdi Samani – GENERAL PRACTITIONER

MD, FRACGP

Dr Mehdi Samani received his medical doctorate in 2007 and worked at Redlands Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital before earning his RACGP fellowship in 2014. He also holds an academic title at the University of Queensland as Senior Lecturer, fulfilling his desire to teach and pass on his knowledge to the next generation of young doctors.

Dr Mehdi has also worked for a year alongside two psychiatrists at a resistant depression clinic and brought his valuable insight and experience of mental health care to our practice.

With extensive experience in all aspects of general practice, Dr Mehdi is passionate about digital health and improving patient care using new technologies, including AI.

Dr Luis Prado – Director

A/Prof Luis Prado is a Medical Graduate of the University of Queensland, Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators, Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Service Management, and Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He has held several senior Healthcare and Medical Executive leadership roles across both the public and private healthcare sectors in Australia, along with key Board Director roles in the for-profit and not-for profit sectors.

He is an Affiliate Professor for Deakin University and involved in leading medical education and research across private and public healthcare organisations and specialty colleges.

NALEEN SINGH – PRACTICE MANAGER

B Pharm (Hons); Dip P Mngt

Naleen joined Nundah Doctors Surgery Team as a Practice Manager (Clinic Advocate), bringing extensive experience as a healthcare industry expert. A qualified pharmacist, completed four years in Medicine and complemented by a dual Diploma in Medical Practice Management and Administration experience.

Naleen possesses considerable expertise in practice management. As a highly adaptable leader, she strongly believes in empowering team members and trusts them to deliver results.

Naleen looks forward to collaborating with the Nundah Doctors Surgery Team and achieving excellent outcomes for the surgery cause for which she is deeply passionate.

DORA COTTER – ASSISTANCE PRACTICE MANAGER

Dora Cotter is a valued health therapist and the NDSWH Assistant Practice Manager and is a highly efficient and dedicated member of our team. Her French heritage provides her with a keen understanding of the importance of both professional presentation at work and of recognising the patient’s emotional and mental well-being.

She will warmly greet you at the entrance and guide you to our receptionists. If you have any questions regarding facilities, such as where to get a drink, or a treat, politely ask Dora Cotter.

When you are feeling unwell or anxious, she will provide you with comforting companionship until the doctors are available. She has a remarkable rapport with children and has devoted considerable time to ensuring their comfort within our surgery.

Natsai, is our endorsed enrolled nurse, who also processes a degree in bachelor of nursing. She has around 4 years of experience. She is a valued member of our practice and finds enjoyment in all facets of general practice. Natsai is committed to delivering outstanding nursing care, establishing strong relationships with patients throughout their lives, and providing supportive, patient-centred care at every stage.
She loves a good laugh, music and singing to babies.

CARRA LUKE – ENDORSED ENROLLED NURSE

On 23 August 2025, Nundah Doctor Surgery lost our wonderful nurse, colleague, and dear friend, Carra Samantha Luke. A most empathic and caring human being, nurse, mother, and friend Carra has been with us for 20 years and was the heart and soul of the practice. She has cared for her patients and helped through the most difficult times with the greatest professionalism and dedication. She is irreplaceable, and we will miss her every day . She will always remain in our hearts here at the practice. To all our dear patients and friends of the practice, thank you for your support, care, and love.
